Write a three-page dialogue between Galileo and Pope Urban VIII (the Pope of the Roman
Catholic Church who was involved in the controversy with Galileo). The dialogue can look like a
script to a play, where one person says something, then another person says something.
Use the following guidelines for the paper:
The dialogue should focus on their different views of the universe. The paper should
include some correct historical facts or ideas, but you can also add in new creative ideas
that are fictional. Feel free to be imaginative.
The text of the paper should be at least 750 words long. (That comes out to
approximately three typical pages.)
The paper should use at least two facts, ideas, or quotes from at least two sources such
as textbooks or websites.
Be sure to cite any sources you use: If you take any words directly from a source, you
must use quotes and indicate the source. If you paraphrase words from a source or take
ideas from a source, you must indicate where the information came from. At the very
least, indicate the author, title, and page number. See examples below.
The paper is supposed to be mostly your own words. Papers with long quotes are not
considered to have addressed the assignment appropriately.
Choose a good title. The topic of the paper should be clear from the title.
The first sentence should give a clear idea of what the paper is about. The last sentence
or sentences should conclude the paper. Thoughts should be organized into paragraphs.
